19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a challenging season, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - caused him exiting of the top ten and finally splitting with former mentor his previous coach.

Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden championship after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court after spring of the previous year.

Victory also means the Russian has won 21 titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to win a trophy is particularly special," said ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, comprising in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and recurring reactions on court had caused observers to doubt if his capacity to play at the highest level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a decider.

He defended four initial opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
